MusicStation Monday: “桜の木になろう” by AKB48

Okay, you had to have seen this coming weeks and weeks ago. For all otakus out there, AKB48 is akin to the real-life iDOLM@STER.

Anyways, AKB48, is literally what it stands for. The AKB represents “Akihabara”, which is where their headquarters are located, and pretty much where most of their revenue is generated. Also, the “48” portion, represents the number of girls present in the group. While at most you may notice around 12 of them, there is actually 48 of them acting as a whole.  Aside from the fact that their songs contain ultra-kawaii music videos, the whole arrangement of AKB48 is packed full with bishoujos. Obviously I’m not going to introduce all of them, but I’ll let you know which are my favourites: Harunyan, Yukirin, and Mayuyu. Me GUSTA.

So, their new single, 桜の木になろう, in my opinion, is by far their best song. Obviously a lot of people like “Beginner” more, but I beg to differ. 桜の木になろう gives AKB48 a new side to them, something more “shoujo-like” and more or the “submissive-asian-girl” type of feel.  Okay, maybe that’s just the feeling it gives me, but I’m sure you’ll love the song too. It’s tune is  ridiculously catchy and I believe that you’ll like it after a few minutes of hearing it.

Lyrics:
